La Stella

Estate Overview

Situated on the Golden Mile, just off the shores of Lake Osoyoos in the Okanagan, Severine Pinte, the classically-trained winemaker behind LaStella‘s picturesque winery, crafts wines of purity and finesse. Believing in sustainable farming practices and the expression of place, LaStella aims to create wines that evoke emotion and tell their own stories.

LaStella pays homage to the great Italian wines of the world with its own collection of proprietary bottlings. Emulating traditional Old World techniques and sparing no expense with their aging vessels, LaStella has developed a portfolio of traditionally inspired wines that have expanded the creative boundaries of British Columbia’s wine industry. Notably, the Maestoso, LaStella’s premium Merlot, is made in tribute of the great Super Tuscan, Ornellaia‘s Masseto. Another allusion to the Super Tuscan wines of Italy, The Fortissimo, combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese to produce a wine of elegance and longevity. Among its white varietals, the Vivace is LaStella‘s answer to Pinot Grigio, recreating the light and linear style of the Alto Adige and Friuli regions.

While LaStella’s reputation for extraordinary wines is well known amongst British Columbia’s wine consumers, it is only recently that the international community (and their toughest wine critics) have taken notice. The 2011 Maestoso ‘Solo’ Merlot received 17.5/20 from Jancis Robinson and Richard Hemming at a 2015 London trade show. Hemming described the Maestoso as, “Gorgeous, succulent, and chewy. Opulent fruit with superb purity.”
